LifeLong's Agency Brochure

Many patients come to Lifelong Medical Care uninsured and are unaware that they are eligible for low- to no-cost medical, vision and dental coverage programs. Programs like: Family PACT, CARE, AIM, CMSP and/or insurances such as Medi-cal, Medicare, Senior HMO’s, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids, and Group Care. In order to ensure health services coverage for as many patients as possible and assist people in knowing about these and other programs, the Member Services Department was developed. Member Services Department started seven years ago for Lifelong Medical Care. Each year, Member Services has grown not only in staff, but also in knowledge and in understanding of all the constant changes in health care.

Member Services Department is known for Central Registration for the Organization. In the past when a person came to one of our clinics for the first time, he or she was seen by the on-site staff or sent to Member Services for assistance with coverage issues. However, because of the increased complexity of the registration process, it has been hard for on-site staff to keep up with all the insurance coverage changes and necessary paperwork. Therefore, centralizing registration in Member Services was developed to help provide the most effective assistance for our new patients and current patients to receive the coverage they are eligible for. In the new centralized registration process, all new patients will be referred to the Member Services Department. Insured new patients will be able to register over the phone and the uninsured new patients will come to the department or clinic site on a designated day.* Please contact clinic on the day Member Services Representative will be at the site.

In addition to providing patients with assistance in the registration and health insurance coverage issues, Member Services Department is proactive with community outreach in schools, annual health fairs, health care enrollments for children, advocating for senior services programs and special events in its coordination of the Ameri-Corps members and the Member Services Representatives. Lifelong Ameri-Corps members are satellite representatives of the Member Services department. The members assist all sites working with the different programs and/or departments in the Organization The objective of the Member Services Department with the coalition of the Ameri-Corp members is to (a) increase access for underserved community members, (b) improve utilization for current patients, (c) provide health education for current patients and (d) community improvement through volunteers.
