LifeLong Medical Care Marks Anniversary with Gala Fundraiser & Community Event
Thank you for joining us as we celebrated 40 years of providing high-quality health and social services to underserved people of all ages, regardless of income. Our 4,000+ supporters helped to make LifeLong Medical Care’s 40th Anniversary Gala a success, raising $165,000 — more than ever before!
More than 300 people attended the March 12 Gala in The Oakland Rotunda. Serving as 40th Anniversary Gala Honorary Chair was Betty Reid Soskin, 94 years young and an active National Park Service Ranger at Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond. LifeLong Medical Care’s Board Chair Kevin D. Williams, JD, MPH, emceed the event.
Rosalind “Bobbie” Singer, Namesake of Bobbie Award, in Attendance
We also were joined by Rosalind "Bobbie" Singer, the namesake of the Bobbie Award, and her son, Dan Roberts. They flew in from Seattle for the special occasion. The Bobbie Award honors extraordinary local residents who have contributed to improving community health and exemplify Singer’s values and vision.
This year all our past Bobbie Awardees were honored, including: 2007 - Dr. Vicki Alexander; 2008 - Dr. Howard Daniel and Mrs. Sally Daniel; 2009 - Rev. Raymond Lankford; 2010 - Hugo Armando Lucero Retana; 2011 - Ralph Silber; 2012 - Julie Sinai; 2013 - Meredith Minkler; 2014 - Irma Anderson; 2015 - José Joel Garcia.
Marty Lynch Honored with Burning Flame Award
LifeLong Medical Care CEO Marty Lynch was honored with a Burning Flame Award for keeping the flames burning at LifeLong for 36 years. A special video tribute to Marty and LifeLong Medical Care on its 40th anniversary also was shown, and you can see it here.

In 2007, LifeLong Medical Care established the Bobbie Award in honor of long-time health advocate Rosalind “Bobbie” Singer. The award celebrates local residents who exemplify Ms. Singer’s values and vision, and who contribute to improve health in underserved communities.
