Berkeley, CA–LifeLong Immediate/Urgent Care – Berkeley will celebrate its first anniversary with free flu shots and health fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sat., Oct. 22.
Free blood pressure, glucose screenings, and tours will also be offered at the facility, located at 2001 Dwight Way, Suite 1388, on the First Floor of Herrick Campus, Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.
More than 25 years ago this strong relationship between LifeLong Medical Care and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center began as a collaboration to offer primary care services for low-income residents. Now it’s continued with the operation of LifeLong Immediate/Urgent Care in Berkeley.
“We are delighted to celebrate the first anniversary of LifeLong Immediate/Urgent Care – Berkeley. The facility provides a valuable resource for people who need immediate medical care, but who don’t have conditions requiring the Emergency Room,” said Marty Lynch, LifeLong Medical Care’s Executive Director/CEO. “We are committed to providing prompt, high-quality health care to the community at this excellent facility,” said Lynch.
LifeLong Immediate/Urgent Care – Berkeley is offering free flu vaccines at its Oct. 22 event as a community service. “The flu can result in hospitalization and sometimes even death, so it’s important for people six-months of age and older to get a flu vaccine every year,” said Eric Henley, MD, LifeLong Medical Care’s Chief Medical Officer.
People at high-risk for flu include children younger than 5 – and especially younger than 2 – and adults older than 65, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
People attending the health fair can also receive important blood pressure screenings, as well as screenings for glucose (blood sugar) to detect diabetes. “We invite the community to visit LifeLong Immediate/Urgent Care – Berkeley and help safeguard their health,” said Dr. Henley.
